WHY IS IT ALWAYS ABOUT AVATARS???????

Why is it when something goes wrong with a topic we have to hear about it and then our avatars are mentioned.  Yes i have read some of the threads as of late and they did get out of hand, its just people having fun with other freinds, not like it doesnt happen on facebook or other websites or blogs, my point is that when we get a thread of how to behave why are AVATARS always mentioned?  They are just pictures.  some do get dis-tastefull but we are alerted right away and told to change them.  so i must have to say all the avatars that are presently on fishing buddy must be in good taste, so why keep bringing it up and give people an option?  just my thoughts..........
