Graduating from the University of North Dakota has led me to Minot, ND where I am employed as a GIS & Engineering Specialist for a local entity. I am happy to reside in Minot and feel fortunate to have remained in the beautiful state of North Dakota where the people and the outdoors I truly love remain close to me.I first became part of the Total Outdoor Network (TON) as a Field Staff member in 2001 for FishingBuddy.COM (FBO). Through the years continued involvement with FBO and the network offered me the opportunity to become the General Manager and Online Editor for FBO in 2003. It provided me a platform to further extend my enthusiastic attitude of the outdoors while interacting with FBO members within the forum pages, reports, and through written articles.
The ultimate goal of the Total Outdoor Network is to provide a platform for like minded hunters, fishermen/women and outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to do the same. Whether it is through a talk forum, a fishing or hunting report, photo, video, off-the-web member interaction or articles published throughout TON, I embrace the opportunity to inspire and manage an environment built to share, enhance and protect the very things we all love.
I give much credit to my great grandfather Herman Jahnke for homesteading on the Heart of Lake Sakakawea or New Town, North Dakota, where my family farmed for generations. Herman began the tradition of the outdoors but my father and uncles only strengthened them through endless lessons stemming from hunting and fishing trips. Without such moments in my life and the upbringing my parents (Jay and Jayne) I truly question where life would have led me.
Through the past few years my girlfriend Danielle (Dani) has become very active in the outdoors. Most recently, my sister's Tessa and Tristen have joined a long standing family tradition of hunting and fishing. There are times in one's life where it all comes together and having the addition of fellowship among the outdoors is one of them. In my opinion, the power of the outdoors is absolutely necessary to curb the ever mounting distractions today's real world throws at us. I cannot be more happy with how it seems things have come full circle where I am extending traditions ultimately building bridges to strengthen relationships by both friend and family.
Although, avid in all areas of the outdoors, I must admit I favor spending my free time chasing mule deer throughout the rugged North Dakota Badlands. In at a close second is the pursuit of the elusive walleye. After fishing, it's a toss up between calling in wary Canadian Geese, fooling a cautious whitetail with a bow, or watching his family's Springer Spaniels roust a ringneck pheasant.
Thankful for the teaching and discipline I've received I can only hope my attempt to repay my debt through sharing success stories, failures, and lessons learned to past and future family, friends and FBO members will be enough.
