Photo Description:
My daughter Emily caught this carp on Spiritwood lake just minutes after her older brother caught a whopper walleye. She thought for sure she had her second whopper walleye on the line and I did to. Even though it turned out to be just a carp, she had tons of fun bringing it in and anticipating what she thought was huge walleye coming to the net. Not a bad memory for the last day of summer vacation.Tags: whopper, thought, walleye, caught, carp, emily, spiritwood, daughter, lake, minutes

Re:Haha that's awesome. I can't wait for our daughter to experience fishing and the outdoors. I'm glad I've had a "good fishing career" so far, because I have a feeling it's going to be all about her, instead of me worrying if I'm going to catch fish or not. And the more I think about it, I probably won't even bother wetting a line.

Re:It is going to the smoker. She caught it and wanted to keep it so I had to do something with it. .

Re:Cool. I have a big smoker too and I've been cursed at for throwing them back by people that like them.. Do you just head em' and gut em and smoke whole. I may have to keep one to smoke up with some whitebass and catfish next time...

Re:Head em, gut em, and split em down the middle. They are definitely better in the spring than the summer and the smaller ones are better than the big ones.
