The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) in North Dakota would like to invite you to take part in improving the future of the Mule Deer and their habitat in western North Dakota. You can help by attending one of our banquets, becoming a chapter sponsor, a Conservation Partner and buying a chance at the only state-wide mule deer buck tag in ND! MDF has been active in North Dakota for the past eleven years and currently has active chapters in Bismarck (Northern Badlands Chapter), Minot (West Dakota Chapter), Williston (Muddy Buck Chapter) and Dickinson (Teddy Roosevelt Chapter) and we are looking at adding a few more chapters in western North Dakota in 2012!

Last year, North Dakota chapters raised over $225,000 for mule deer and will be utilizing funds for things such as a Mule Deer study being conducted by the ND Game & Fish and University of Missouri, youth mentoring and shooting programs (M.U.L.E.Y program) and sponsoring over 27,000 acres of P.L.O.T.S land (Private Land Open To Sportsmen) annually!

In the past few years, we have seen severe weather patterns that have negatively affected our mule deer populations and also tremendous growth in energy exploration and development across western North Dakota mule deer habitat. We at MDF want to make it clear they we are not opposed to energy exploration and development. What we do support is responsible energy development and encourages proper planning, mitigation, enhancement and/or reclamation of habitat to ensure the conservation of mule deer for future generations.

Support can come in many ways:

1) Join us at one of our local banquets

2) Become a supporting member! We have general memberships, lifetime memberships and/or become a Sponsor Member in which you or your company are recognized at our banquet, receive a plaque, sponsor hat and pin as well as a 1 in 5 chance at a sponsor member rifle. Our banquets also have Special Reserved Tables with our ND Partnership packages.

3) Make a donation to our banquet(s) by underwriting an item or a cash donation. We have items ranging from guns to prints that cost $50 to $2,000 that could be underwritten. Additionally, we look for support to cover the costs of our banquet dinners.

4) For a huge impact in North Dakota, consider the Mule Deer Conservation Partnership program, with a minimum donation of $1,500 and 100% of those funds stay in North Dakota and will be applied to an MDF project in North Dakota.

With regards to funds raised, a Project Review Committee (PRC) has been established to solicit habitat projects in ND, along with prioritizing and distributing funds for these projects. This PRC is made up of representatives from the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, U.S. Forest Service, BLM and MDF representatives. We want to make a noticeable impact in North Dakota that is recognized by hunters and conservationists!

Visit the MDF website www.muledeer.org and contact us for information on MDF and upcoming events in your area! If you are interested in volunteering on a committee or starting a chapter in your area contact either Marshall Johnson or Ryan Krapp.
