I just got a chance last night to watch the Supercross race from Anaheim 2.  I was exceited to see that Tanner Reidman from Bismarck qualifed for the main event in the 250 class.  For those of you that do know much about supercross, his accomplishment is tremendous.  Way to go Tanner

I used to race as well and I can remember when he moved up from the 80cc class I had a hard time keeping pace with him, what the heck I thought.

I've been involved with MX for 30 years.  He is the first from ND to qualify for a main even in Supercross for sure and I believe also qualifying for the outdoor nationals.  Tanner is a great rider who works very hard and lives a very nomadic life to do what he loves.  I grew up racing in MN and actually had two of my best friends go on and race professionaly.  One eventually went on to win two world championships.  The other did very well for not racing as many years.  Made quite a few main events in supercross and top tens in outdoors.  I played three sports in high school and raced in the summer and it is truly the toughest sport you could ever compete in.  For Tanner to make a main event in supercross is an amazing achievement.

That is huge to qualify for a supercross main. I raced moto in manitoba, nd and mn for almost 20 years. I think richard wouri may have qualified for a 125 outdoor at millville.

Riverview,
I don't think Richard ever did qualify in Millville.  He and Jared Mickelson tried many times but never made it.  I was Jared's mechanic a couple times at the Minneapolis supercross and those tracks are insane, TV does nothing for showing what it is really like.

eyexer,
Your friend must have been the late Donny Schmit.  One of only two americans to win both 125 and 250 world championships.  He had an amazing career, and from what I have heard a super guy.

I rode the first ameture day the minneaplos supercross, they had jumps before the ramps so we couldnt attempt anything. but the ramps were so steep i couldnt have jumped anything anyway. I thought richard Qualified but i could be wrong. a few locals from manitoba qualified.  reidman must be fast to qualify. hibbert used to qualify and run just outside of the top ten and that kid was very fast. very cool that a kid from n.d. is makeing it.

I got to see him race on the ice one time he was famous for doing that.  He would run a snowplow and set up a track in the middle of the lakes and then run nails through his tires.  Donny was a heck of a guy I went to the SuperCross race and they had a big honor for him.

I remember when  I was sixteen a buddy and I went to the races at the dome and we went for the autorgraph and thats when Lampson and MrGrath were rocking on the Hondas.  Lampson was wearing a cool ride red lettermans jacket and he asked me to trade him because it was so cold out and I had a nice columbia jacket on. I didnt know what to do because my mom had bought me the coat and I figured she would have killed me.  I told him this and he said thats cool kid and have me a rid red jersey both he and McGrath signed

Tanner Reidmans brother is also very fast. Brandon has many ND state championships. Watching Richard Wouri and Brandon shoot it out was always fun. When Tanner was on the course you knew he was going to win but whenever he got a poor holeshot it was more fun to watch him pass everybody. Brandon doesn't race as much anymore, now all he does is hunts. Ha!!

My daughter has three ND state championships in womens and a fourth against the boys. I always told her to watch these guys. Study their track lines and body english.

Yes it was.  He was one of a kind.  One of the coolest/nicest guys you could ever call your friend.  We had some amazing trips together chasing around the loretta qualifiers and such.  Funny thing was, he could barely change his spark plug.  I had to go up and work on his bikes all the time.  But the guy could do stuff on a bike you would never consider attempting.

yea he was wild on the ice.  He lived in Bloomington and about 6 blocks from Lake Highland.  Another buddies dad had a plow truck so we'd go out and plow up the lake down to bare ice and build jumps out of snow and pack it so he could jump it.  He rode around on the ice like it was dirt.  Here is a snippet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=BR&hl=pt&v=gCa0ghDZXhg&fmt=18
think he has any balance, lol.  One time we were at a thursday night supercross in Anoka at the fairgrounds.  There was a long sweeper straight and he actually pulled a wheelie and rode past my buddy and slapped him on the back of the head while riding this wheelie on the sweeper.

Tucker showed up at Mandan in May of 08'.  The previous year I believe he had finished inside the top 20 for the year in the outdoor nationals.  Tucker laid a pretty good whooping on Tanner in Mandan that day.  That was rather shocking to me considering how fast Tanner is.  Tucker is definately no slouch.  He went on and finished around 15th at the outdoor nationals the summer of 08' in the races he went to.  But Tanner is a little faster now then in 08'.  I sure hope he can step it up a notch yet and maybe get signed onto a decent team so we can see his full potential before he peaks out and starts heading the other direction.

I used to be part of a lot of races with Tucker and your right he is no slouch.  It was fun to watch him grow in the sport.  He went from getting bet by Richard and Jared all the time to laying the smack down on them on a regular basis.  Now he can run with the big boys in the AMA with now problem.  He even won a LCQ in supercross a few years back.   He always said motocross is where his heart is at.  Looks like snocross pays the bills.  I have lots of good memories of the motocross day's, sometimes wish it would never have ended.  Hopefully Tanner can keep pushing and up his pace one more level and get to consistetly running in the top 20.
