What is your remedy for keeping mosquitos away?  Has anyone tried the dryer sheet method?  What do you use to keep them away from your kids?

I've tried the dryer sheet method briefly in my backyard.  Results are inconclusive thus far.

My absolute favorite, swear-by-it product is Buzz Off clothing by Ex Officio.  It's pricey, but it comes treated with Permethrin, and the treatment lasts through 25 washings.  I've worn my Buzz Off vest, for example, in a mosquito-infested wetland on a bird count, and while the others' backs were black with them, the person behind me commented that there wasn't even a single mosquito on me.  I've also seen ticks RUNNING down my leg away from my Buzz Off t-shirt.  I have a Buzz Off bandana, which I can wear on my head to keep ticks away from there, or tie around my leg or wrist or neck.  I also have a long-sleeve camo t-shirt for photography and hunting, and a short-sleeved t-shirt for hiking or whatever.

You can also buy Permethrin in a can.  You don't spray it on your skin; you spray it on your clothes before you put them on, let it dry, and then put the clothes on.  It's used a lot by people traveling to Africa or South America - any country where malaria's a problem and they'll be outdoors in mosquito land.
