I cannot comment on sales job.  Wages are on the rise because of the oil and just because of the urban sprawl.  Depends on job of course.

Housing is ridiculous and has been for well over three years.  Going to just get worse.  If you build and go modest with 1200 square foot home upper level with unfinished basement and three stall garage you will be looking at most likely minimum of $220,000.  Probably higher now.  Or if you want a number from last year take 160 bucks times the square foot and add on about $35,000 and there's your new house.  This is finished everything though...

Older homes are not cheap either.  I bought a home that needs new siding, windows, new furnace and other updates built in 1972 for $188,000.

Minot I don't mind for outdoor opportunities.  Yes, you will enjoy Metisgoshe for pans.  Big lake one hour from both ends.  Devils 1.5 hours.  Tailrace 1 hour.  Other small lakes close.  Good bow hunting if you find access.  Pheasants around but limited due to mother nature.

City a mess in the valley due to flood.  Roads within city are in need of work and have been for years.  Tight on taxes around here or spent elsewhere.  Not much quality control it seems when new construction or repairs are done to exisiting infrastructure.  Resturaunts increasing, hotels increasing.  Shopping limited for the most part.  Traffic on the wicked increase.

If you listen to some you will be murdered as soon as you enter city limits.  Don't worry, you are just fine.  Go looking for trouble and you'll find it quick.  Just like any other town.
