Well someone finally did it I had this idea about 8 years ago pretty similar to control my path with gps inorder to maintain speed and such just never had the ambition to go much further with it. I guess I'd rather pay someone 400 than make money. Has anybody tried this i know there are a few people who have been to the tailrace, just wondering if anybody has given it a shot maybe some of the pro's on this site have given her a test run. What prices have you found what do you like/dislike etc.

I bought one about a month ago they run around 400 dollars no matter where you buy them online or at scheels or wherever. I just bought a whole new unit a terrova with US2 and ipilot save a little money and get all the toys all at one time.  I tried it  twice so far first thoughts were that the remote is much larger than the copilot remote i am used to. It is however very rugged looking and well built and waterproof and it floats! the buttons are very stiff, and there are a lot of them! I wish the keys had diff colors on them instead of all black. i may take some modeling paint and put little diff color dabs on them so it is easier to read kinda like my own personal quick reference!
the spot lock feature was dead on tried it multiple times from diff distances and it just zips right into high gear goes to the spot and does its thing well. in current it holds it path well although be prepared if you are standing for sudden movements! the plots and following a trail worked well also.
havent fully explored it but overall so far i really like it. just make sure where you fish the most has GPS coverage some places get blocked out by high banks.

I looked  at them this weekend.  Thanks for the info on the " high banks" concern. I was curiuos about that problem. Pretty much decided to give it a year see how people like them. 75% of my fishing is at Yellowtail nothing but high banks there. I'm constantly loosing gps signal there. I also was not digging the remote. Am I correct in that they dont come with a footpedal at all?

the terrova comes with the footpedal. the powerdrive V2 does not have the footpedal u have to use the footpedal plug to wire in the i-pilot. minn-kota has a $100 mail in rebate until 4-15 if u buy  any terrova motor right now but not on the i-pilot alone.
