The little guy last year.
Sure looks like he knows what he's doing.
perch
Couple of the nicer perch I've pulled ou this year.
New years eve
A nice limit from DL.
Matching the hatch.
Nothing like dime sized bluegills for a forage base.
Sauger
Out of the red.
Goldeye
Also out of the red.  These things are fun for kids to catch.  They are anywhere in the water column and pretty aggressive.
TRSP Trout
I know, they're farm fish, but still alot of fun on a 3wt.
Memories.
This was a few years ago, before the wife and the kids and the two jobs and all the other crap that comes with it. A simpler time when a guy could just drop work on a day with no wind and head out
Not bad for 20 min!
The right place at the right time.  Too bad this weather shut them down.
Late ice is great ice!
Ice is getting sketchy.  I think this will be my last time out. Maybe Devils one more time.  Thanks Big J.
Second try
Good times.
Red river eyes
Friday morning.  Jig and gulp.  Fishing in a ditch.
Hunting for bulls
Here's one of the big guys we were sight fishing for this past saturday.
A boy and his trout.
Kids are nuts, but they sure like catching fish.
Big goose
Thought this was funny.  Gonna have to start training bull mastiffs to retrieve.
Big pumpkin.
A little bit of rain can't slow this guy down.  Fishing was a little slower but still managed a couple pigs.
Rainy day gills.
The rest of em. Nothing like ditching out of work to chase some gills in the rain.
Archives!
Heading out to the park tonight and had to dig this guy up.  Still can't believe that fish was in there.
Turtle River State Park, uh, walleye??
We were out at the park yesterday afternoon, and my wife was throwing a small panther martin and she hooked into this thing.  Ended up being 20" right on the nose.  Definatly
One for Big J.
This ungly bugger was 15.5" and weight 2lbs 2oz.  Biggest one I've ever caught.
Jig and twister catfish!
Saturday morning catfish.
Red river eye #1
27.25"  7lbs 1oz.  Jig and a twister
Red river eye #2
20 min after the first one.  28"  7lbs 14oz.  Both CPR.  Was looking for that 10 pounder. Maybe next time.
More cats on twisters
One of five cats from 37 -29" I got on walleye gear this weekend.  Personaly I find it amazing these things will hit a jig and a grub.
Yum
Fun stuff on ultralite gear.  I just finished up a 6'-6" UL and wanted to try her out on some perch.  Man they all felt lik 4lb walleyes on that rod. Fun stuff.
Red river pumkin seed?
Got 2 of these and 2 gills saturday evening.  Kinda blew my mind that I caught them.  The wild part was that I was sight fishing them in clear run off that was dumping into the red.
Red river bluegill.
Here's one of the gills.
Here you go Big J.
Went to N golden and got three of these ugly bastages and 2 small pike.  Dissapointing. Should have drove a little farther and a different direction for some better fishing. Figured ol Bullheadmaster
Ultra light sauger fishing
Fun stuff. When you find these little guys, I like to switch over to ultra-light gear and have some fun.
Ultra light sauger 2
This guy ran my drag pretty good. 2lb test and 1/16th oz jigs. Fun stuff.
The Jedi Fish Catcher
Well it's done.  Turned out pretty sweet.
Who'd a thunk it.
So there we were, jiggin walleyes off of the Camp Grafton shoreline of devils lake.  Boated close to 30 small eyes(8-14")  When something bigger hit.  Hook set, drag, this
Day two
Second time out.  These buggers are hard to hit in a 20+mph wind. And don't tell my wife wear I cleaned them
My retriever did well tonight.
I don't know who has more fun, me shooting them, or him picking them up.
First day in the field with the new dog. He did great!
For never seeing a bird before, My GSP did an awesome job.  4 solid points is all it took to get these 6.
Little guys first grouse. Plus a bonus dove.
This year I decided to let him start walking fields with me.  He's been out twice and really seems to like it.
Red river eye 1.
This gal is 28.5" and 8lbs 9oz.  Not quite big enough.  Back in the drink with her.
Red river eye 2
Got this one the next night.  29" and 8lbs 14oz.  Have yet to get my 30"er out of there yet.
Little guy and a pike.
100% by himself.  He was pretty proud of this fish.
Nd elk. Whatch out!
Look out guy.
Split reel seat ice rod!
This is going to be my new favorite, I think.
Pumkin Carving.
This actually scared my 2yr old.
Red river limit.
They need to up that limit on the old Red river.  These are 3 of 7 from last night.  I still prefer gulp over minnows there Joshy. On a side note, the bigger one had 14 baby bullheads
Ice Fishing Photo Contest
My son Taber with a couple nice pike.  The smile says it all.
Ice Fishing Photo Contest
Little man running the drill. (It's not running)
Ice Fishing Photo Contest
 A nice North Dakota Pike.
Ice Fishing Photo Contest
All the gear packed up in the sled.
Ice Fishing Photo Contest
Forgot about this one.  Little dude will be out fishing me in the next year or two.
First fish of the season!!
Went out on wed(24th)  and found a couple inches of ice to venture out on.  Felt good to bust out the old chubby.
Newest addition.
32" Thorne brothers dead stick with recoil guides.  Graphite twill reel seat.  I'm excited to get this thing to some good use on sat.  Thought I'd share.
Ice fishing photo contest
Got this girl yesterday at 2:00pm of all times. 26" and back in the drink with her.  My biggest eye through the ice. And on a side note, apparently a GSP in the house is good luck. Who'd
The fish that made his day.
This is my kids biggest pike so far.  He was more than pumped and insisted, "Dad, we should put him back so he can get bigger".   Bring a kid fishing, it'll make your
Crappies
Good eats.   And sorry for posing Big J.  That's a coke box.
A pile of craps
 Gotta love crappie fishing.
Bad news birds.
I got these in an email.  These birds need to leave.
Some more
Another view of the perch fry.
One more
Not sure if this is out of one bird or not.
Fully loaded quiverstick.
On the end of the line is a $50 crappie.  Fun day.  This is one of my favorite little tournaments to fish.
Nothing like an ugly fish to make a kid smile.
His biggest fish yet(8lbs). Fought it like a champ.  Too bad he wouldn't put the dang thing down after he caught it.  And yes, that is fish slime all over him.
Photo Contest
My little hunting buddy.  This was day 2 of dove season this year.
One last gill
Nothing like fishing right in town. Little dude has figured out how to read my showdown a little too well.  Looks like I'm gonna have to get him his own(or me a new one) this next season.
1st open water eye of the year.
I just love catching that first fish of the new season. Especially on a new rod.  27" CPR.
Red Horse
Went out to TRSP looking for trout and ended up with a dozen of these buggers.  A ton of fun for the little guy.
Great day to be a 5yr old.
Awesome day on the big lake.  See reports section.
Big ND gill
10.5"  Total suprise fish.  Slippin with a leach for eyes.
26" red river eye.
Man I love when it rains.
Pullin the Ahab pose.
Makes a 22" red river eye look more like a 26-27"er.  I know your trick now Captain
Kids first big cat
Well, big for him.
Me and the little guys pre tourney action
Too bad we missed out.  He may have had a run at something.  At least we got to fish before i had to go to work.  Anyone find a couple brindle beauties tied up to the dock?
Dove opener!
Ahab's dog is a dove retrieving machine.   Man, I love shooting these things.
Dove opener!
 I'll try this again.
5 yr old hooked up on the fly rod.
My little guy has been practicing his casting in the yard for the past 2 months just waiting for the river to be stocked.  Looks like practice paid off.
And here's the fish.
He did awesome. Especially for using a 3wt for this beast.  He got 3 more like this that morning.  Fun, fun time.
Not long now!
Man have I got an itching for some ice fishing.  Anyone else?
My wife thinks I have too much ice tackle!
I think I need to get more. On this years list, salmo zippers size 4, Northland rippin shads, Lindy bugs and toads, and probably a bunch of other stuff on impulse buys! Man I am jacked for the
what the heck is this?
Found this guy in my minnow bucket. Came with some sucker minnows. Before anyone jumps on me about suckers being illegal, I was fishing the red.
Red River eye.
28" on the nose. Great weather to be out in.
Saturday Whit Bassathon!
I have never caught a white bass through the ice before Saturday, but holy crap they are fun to catch. A great way to pass the time awaiting the evening bite. Moved up shallow after this and bagged
After work snack.
Slipped out after work and found some chunky pumpkins and a bonus crappie.
He's starting to outfish me!
He sticks a 19"er and all I got was a bunch of perch. His perch were bigger too.
Little Iaconelli
Little man stuck his first bucketmouth this weekend.
red river eye
27 1/2". Not as big as Frost's, but a nice fish.
lunchbreak pike
