I always include some red clover either med or mammoth we started this 15 yrs ago when we planted some clover with alfalfa for hay and couldnt keep the deer out of it so thought if it was that good we kept it up.it keeps the deer coming back if you what deer only a few sunflowers if you what birds as well some milo,  oil sunflower mix works well the milo and flowers stands well in deep snow. last fall we had some  friends try turnips deer like those to, The way it looked they are still pawing thru the snow after them

Corn is good and so our soybeans.  Mix together.  Part of the reason I plant these is they are round up ready and it makes it easy for weed control.  The corn adds cover for me in the winter.  Soybeans are gone in the fall.
However:
White clover is high in protein and stays GREEN.  Deer will love and if there is none in your area they will love it even more.  More so in the spring.  I do not plant alfalfa as I feel the white clover is better.
Deer need to get use to a certain crops and once that happens will look for it.
I do plant radish, turnips, rape, canola or any crop of that family in september.  As I have done this now for a while they do look for it in the fall and will eat the leaves or flowers big time.
Fruit trees can be a big benefit here and do plant these trees.  Biggest problem is protecting the tree from the deer until they matures.
Have planted chicory.  It seems to be a plant that was like a weed in that it kept coming back even when grass took over.  Nice blue flower but not sure if the deer at my area care for it.
Sugar beets, they did eat the leaves good and round up ready but seed is high price.
Have planted flowers like hollyhocks (not sun flowers) as deer love flowers but hard to do to any size area. Tried sweet clover and I think this would be good but have had little success in getting it started.
Another tree is caragana.  Have very little in the area.  Bark is soft and deer love to rub on what I have planted.  Another tree that the deer destory faster than I can plant.
So for me, a pernament crop is white clover but have problems controling weeds.
Corn and soybeans along with the radish, turnips and canola in late summer.

I do purchase my seeds other that corn, canola and soybeans from Lake Agaseed in west fargo.  They do have a deer mix that has grown well up here.  282-8118.  I am not sure of how the name is spelled.  db

I plant apple, pear, plum, and cherry trees.  They last longer and I don't have to plant every year.  I just have to wait about 10 years for them to produce a good amount of fruit.  Between now and then I like to alternate between corn and soybeans.  I have a 300 acre alfalfa field next door so that part is covered.
