2011 Nebraska Big Buck Classic to be held March 25-27 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, NE
Mark your calendars for the 3rd Annual Nebraska Big Buck Classic which will take place at the Qwest Center in Omaha, NE on March 25-27, 2011.  If you made it to the 2010 show you know this place was crazy busy with lots to see and do.  This year will be even better.

Scorers will be on hand to measure antlers and put them on display.  Awards will be given to the top winners in each category.  Even if the buck was harvested in a prior season it can still be brought in and entered.  There is also scoring and a contest for shed antlers.  If you have trail camera pictures bring those in and enter them in the trail cam photo contest.  Archery hunters bring in your bows for the 3D shoot.
Hunting seminars will be going on all weekend and with over 100 exhibitors you can be sure to find the latest in hunting gear and equipment.

Meet Outdoor Celebrities Lee & Tiffany Laksosky(The Crush), Rick & Julie Kreuter(Beyond the Hunt), Cally Morris(Hazel Creek), Les Johnson(Predator Quest)
and Brandon Wikman(The Next Generation).

New Bow Hunter!! New to the Forum!!
I just wanted to say Hello.  I picked up a bow a few months ago and am looking forward to the upcoming deer season.  I live in Plattsmouth and was wondering if there are any area's around here that are good for this type of hunting.  Looked at the Nebraska game and parks but I wanted to get the perspective and advise from you 'the hunter'.  I have a lane set-up in my back yard 20-30-40 yards and work at it everyday.  Already feel the addiction of the bow and I love it.   Have a great day and look forward to talkin' to ya.

Sep 2010 Omaha hunt info
Normally I plan everything to the tee. Hunt 3-5 states a year, own a mfring company that creates the greatest stand ever invented (OK, only a little bias), live in OK, own house in MN too, and take 3-9 kids through hunter safety courses every year.
Well, I just setup a trip to Omaha for work but want to slice in a littel pleasure too (20-24 or so Sep) and figured I'd see if I could get a couple days of hunting in up there. Reading the regs it looks like I can get a bow tag for deer without a draw process (some please confirm) and once that is covered, of course I will need a place to hunt and local info that may help me along :) I only hunt public lands or private land owner permission lands and not guided cheating hunts (no pay guide responses please).
What I can offer in return for local info to your carefully guarded hot spot is the following:  Open access to the above style of hunts in Oklahoma and Minnesota. Both states are belly up states for tags (walk into Walmart, buy tag, hunt the next day). In OK is hunt on 1000's of acres (both public and private owned) that we hunt on almost daily (its a family affair here). No feeders or fences, just good knowledge of the areas. I also own a 2 story home in MN that is across the street from 100's of miles of state land in way Northern MN. That hunt is the hardest hunt you will ever be on and make sure you can read a compass because it's 20 miles to the next road if you go the wrong direction. I do not charge for hunting, ever. You want hunt, just contact me, pay for your travel, tags and lodging (in OK - MN has plenty of space and the nearest lodging is 50 miles away) and lets hunt!
Well, in summary, if you know the short and sweet on non-resident bow hunt around Omaha (can't really travel too far from there) and want to share a hunting area for a day or two with an avid hunting nice guy, drop me some info and lets see if we can be luckier than the prey we are after (ain't found a human yet that is smarter than a deer :)).

2009 Archery Reports
I passed a 100" or so 4X4 wed night and had an "invisible" twig off a branch deter my shot on a nice doe. All and all a good night, seen 6 deer in the 3 hours I sat.

First weekend of season.....
Got up early Saturday morning so that I could be in my stand well before shooting time. Once I arrived at my spot I was thrilled to find out that someone had taken the time to carry a pair of bolt cutters so that they could steal my deer stand. I'm sure glad I put in month's of preseason work so that I could be ripped off. So much for the unspoken respect between hunters.

After discovering that I decided that since I drove an hour and got up early I might as well hang out for a while just to see what I could see. Ended up seeing 5 does and 1 buck (by himself) before 830. I stayed till 930 but didn't see anything after that.

Hope everyone is having a better season than me so far.

Best of luck. (Except for the person that stole my tree stand, of course!)
