This year's Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) event in North Dakota will be in August.  Has anyone attended in the past?  If so what did you think?

What about in other states?  What types of classes did you attend?

I attended the BOW workshop last year, and I had a great time while I was up there. It was great to be around so many women that were interested in many of the things that I love to do.  All of the instructors were great. They have some classes for gals that aren't interested in diving into hunting right away, like identifying plants, birds, etc. And then they have classes about trapping, boating basics where we learned how to back a boat trailer into the water and how to back it off the trailer and load it back up, and even had a few shotgun/rifle classes. The shotgun/rifle classes really went back to basics, which was kind of nice. The shotgun class was a huge help. The warden that was helping out with the class tipped me off on a few things, and now I much more accurate! It great experience, and I am definitely looking forward to going again this year!

That sounds like a good course.  When you attended was it in Bismarck?

No, as far as I know, the workshop has always been up at Lake Metigoshe State Park.  It's a gorgeous area up there; definitely adds to the experience!

I've been an instructor for BOW in Nebraska for 6 years (this October will be my 7th year).  I teach canoeing, backpacking/hiking, and geocaching.  Other classes the Nebraska BOW offers include Dutch oven cooking, fly tying, on-pond fishing, map & compass, archery, shotgunning, outdoor photography, bird identification, reading the woods, camping, kayaking, and others. Some vary from year to year, like cowboy action shooting, for example.
