Create Your Own Memories

The summer was coming to a close and my four year old daughter said, “Mom when are we going deer hunting?” I smiled and told her a couple more months and had a big feeling of pride from the excitement and enthusiasm my daughter was showing already. She had been hunting with us every year since she was born and you could see the sparkle in her eye with the thought of the big season coming up.
These questions have crossed my mind a few times lately - What if I had never taken up hunting or outdoor activities? What kind of memories would I have missed out on? Certainly other things would have filled my time but looking back on all the memories, the people I’ve met, the lessons I’ve learned and am now starting to teach my kids – none of that could be replaced.
Hunting is a sport that people learn from no matter how long you have been active in it. It always seems that something new comes along or an old buck teaches you a new trick you wish you’d have known before you set out to hunt that day. It poses a challenge that tests your mind, body, patience and true love for the sport that proves to have an end result that could not be replaced. No matter how small or big your kill is or even if you don’t get anything at all – you still know that time you had in the outdoors with family or friends could never be outdone with anything greater.
Ladies – Take your opportunity to create your own memories. Take up an outdoor activity that challenges you and provides you with a sense of satisfaction you deserve. Then take the experience you’ve gained and teach someone else. There’s nothing better than engaging the whole family or a group of friends in something that will create memories that you will never forget for a lifetime….
