2012 Mobridge Ice Fishing Tournament Changes
01/05/2012 5:14 PM

MOBRIDGE, SD: The Mobridge Chamber Tourism Committee met in great length today to discuss about what to do with the tournament. It was decided that the 'event' would go on as planned, BUT that there would not be any endorsed fishing or weigh-ins.
With the lack of ice and ever changing conditions of what ice there is, the concern was for the safety of the entrants. “This is the best solution that we could come up with considering the conditions,” said Rick Bolduan, Tourism Committee Co-Chair. Bolduan continued “This will hopefully be that last time we have to make a judgment call on something like this, but unfortunately we cannot control Mother Nature.”
The Friday night registration and prize give away will be at the regular published times. All handouts (buckets, food, snacks, & etc.) will be given out Friday night. Saturday will be an open day for entrants to do as they wish. At 6p.m. on Saturday the Tourism Committee will start drawing places for prize money, and other "place" prizes. The committee will then give away the prize money and the rest of the "large" prizes on Saturday night starting at 7:30 p.m. For all prizes handed out both Friday and Saturday, anglers “must be present to win.”
